Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of MeshChat ("the app") and this website, provided by Omar M Abu Sharifa ("the developer"). By installing or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. The service
MeshChat is a free, peer-to-peer, end-to-end encrypted messenger. Messages travel directly between users' devices over Bluetooth, local Wi-Fi or the internet. The developer does not operate a message server, cannot read your messages, and cannot recover lost data or accounts (there are none).
2. Eligibility
You must be old enough to enter a binding agreement and to use messaging apps under the laws of your country, and at least 13 years old. Minors need the permission of a parent or guardian.
3. Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for your device, your app lock, your contact codes and everything you send.
- You are responsible for verifying who you are talking to, for example by comparing safety codes.
- You must comply with the laws that apply to you, including laws on encryption, radio and network use.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use MeshChat to:
- harass, threaten, defraud or exploit others, or send unsolicited bulk messages;
- share content that sexually exploits or endangers children, or any other unlawful content;
- infringe intellectual property or privacy rights of others;
- distribute malware, or attempt to disrupt, overload or attack the app, other users' devices or the peer-to-peer network;
- reverse engineer the service to harm others, or circumvent safety features such as blocking.
5. User content, blocking and reporting
You own the content you send, and you are solely responsible for it. Because messages are end-to-end encrypted and not stored by the developer, the developer cannot view or remove user content. You can block any contact in the app. To report abuse, use the in-app Report action, which prepares a message you review before sending, or contact the developer on Telegram at @omrrrs. The developer may act on reports within the limits of what is technically possible, including publishing guidance or restricting official distribution of the app.
6. Optional push relay
The optional iPhone notification relay is provided on a best-effort basis and may be limited, changed or discontinued at any time. See the Privacy Policy.
7. Intellectual property and licences
The MeshChat name, logo and original app content belong to the developer. The app includes third-party open-source components under their own licences, listed in the app under Settings, About, Licenses. Nothing here limits your rights under those licences.
8. No warranty
The app and website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, accuracy or non-infringement. Delivery of messages, range of the Bluetooth mesh and operation of any network feature are not guaranteed. MeshChat is not a substitute for emergency services and must not be relied on for safety-critical communication. No tool can guarantee security or anonymity.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill or messages, arising from your use of or inability to use the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, the developer's total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app, which is zero. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Indemnity
You agree to hold the developer harmless from claims arising from your content or your breach of these terms, to the extent permitted by law.
11. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. The developer may suspend or discontinue the app, the website or the optional relay, or restrict distribution, at any time.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. The effective date above will change, and continued use after an update means you accept the new terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the developer's jurisdiction, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes are subject to the courts of that jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer protection law of your country says otherwise.
